Edward Robert Dutton 1896-1972

Edward Robert Dutton was born on the 25th March 1896 in Liscard the oldest son of Thomas Dutton. His very first job was in the family dairy business at 244 Liscard Road, not only serving customers but helping with the book work.

He was to marry Gladys Harrison in St Hilary's Church Wallasey on the 5th January 1917. Ted was the family historian and took the research of our history firmly on his shoulders. He was a close friend and confidant to my father his half-brother. and would offer his counsel on various issues. I will always be grateful for his help in sorting out my father's estate and helping my mother, in her time of need. My father passed away while I was floating around the Atlantic Ocean, and Ted came to our rescue.  He was an intelligent and charming person to meet and always had time for you.

Their first child was born in 1918 and was named after her mother Gladys M Dutton. Eric E Dutton was born in 1920.Followed by  Joan S Dutton b. 1925, Sidney J Dutton born 1928,  Kenneth J Dutton b 1930 and finally Audrey E Dutton born in 1932.

All the children were born in Birkenhead.

Wallasey News dated 07/01/1967 Celebrating their golden wedding anniversary tomorrow (Sunday) will be Mr and Mrs E.R.Dutton, of Withens Lane, Wallasey. They were married at St. Hilary’s Church, Wallasey on January 5th, 1917. Mr and Mrs Dutton have three daughters and one son, and 20 grandchildren. Sharing their celebration will be the Mayor and Mayoress (Alderman and Mrs. T. Garnett), who will visit their home.
Wallasey News dated 08/07/1972 Ted Dutton. Mr E. Dutton, secretary of New Brighton FC for 20 years until his retirement two years ago, died suddenly in hospital on Thursday. He was aged 76 and lived at 165 Withens Lane, Wallasey.
