Dutton Ancestry

My family arrived in Wallasey in the 1860's. From family photographs, newspaper articles, and scrapbooks, their lives are going to be relived within these pages. I also hope to recreate some of the major events that occurred during their lives. Many of the places described no longer exist and have been wiped off the map.My starting point was my uncle Edward’s article in the Wallasey News dated November 22, 1952. Which clearly stated that John and Margaret Dutton had lived in Saighton, Chester before they moved to the Wirral in the 1860’s. I enquired at the local post office to try and locate the village church and was informed that the church of St. Mary The Virgin Bruera was the nearest to Saighton. I had hoped to locate the church records, but having spoken to the vicar, found that all the records had been placed in the Chester Archives. Inquiring into the possibility of a Dutton being buried in the churchyard, I was informed that there was indeed a large number.

I would like to thank Gary Dutton born in Great Sutton in 1964, whose dad Derek Dutton born in 1931 was the oldest son of Frank Dutton who was the youngest of three son's of James Herbert Dutton. He supplied additional information in connection with our Dutton Ancestry.
